Howard L. Brodigan

Howard L. Brodigan was born June 12, 1934, in Brandon, IA, son of John and Celia Phelps Brodigan. He received his education in Brandon.

Howard was a certified Ford mechanic and he was self-employed in the Dysart area in construction for 58 years. He was united in marriage to Shirley Smith on November 5, 1953.

Howard's death came at his home in Dysart on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the age of 91. He was an active member of the Eagle's Club in Vinton, IA, Benton Bow Benders in Vinton and Howard helped start the Dysart Ambulance Service.

Howard loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed doing woodworking as a hobby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Geraldine Gardner; brothers: John Brodigan and Howard Brodigan; son-in-law Mike Lassen and brothers-in-law: William Conrad and Earl Gardner.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years Shirley; children: Rick (Deb) Brodigan, of Dysart, IA, Becky Lassen, of Dysart, IA, Ronnie Brodigan, of Dysart, IA; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a sister Mary Ann Pratt, of New Hampton, IA; sister-in-law Alinda Brodigan, of Fredricka, IA; sisters-in-law Carole Conrad, of Washburn, IA, and Dorothy (John) Dragich, of Rogers, MN, brother-in-law Royal (Jane) Smith, of Elgin, IL, and several nephews and nieces.

Celebration of Life: Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. at Dysart United Methodist Church, 602 Tilford Street, Dysart.
