Dennis Hosek

CLUTIER-Dennis Edward Hosek, 72, of Clutier, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Al Frank and Pastor James Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Oneida Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 5-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Dennis was born on February 22, 1953, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Edward and Joyce (Davis) Hosek.

He graduated from North Tama High School in 1971, and then graduated from Hawkeye Tech with a Welding Certificate.

On September 22, 1973, he was united in marriage to Janet Rayman at the Clutier Community Church. Dennis was a life long farmer. He farmed row crops, raised hogs and cattle, and was a seed dealer for several companies.

Dennis was an active member of the Clutier Community Church, where he was on the church board for many years. He was on the Tama County Pork Producers board, a member of the former Clutier Lions Club, and formerly a twelve-year member of the North Tama Board of Education. Dennis was active on the Clutier Library Board, and Clutier Fun Day Committee.

Dennis liked to travel, especially going on cruises. He and Janet attended many of their grandchildren’s activities. His family and community were his life.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Janet of Clutier; his children, Jason (Amy) Hosek of Springville, Justin (Jamie) Hosek of Clutier, and Jamie (Jason Heiar) Hosek-Heiar of Colona, IL; eight grandchildren, Jonathan Hosek, Dylan (Samantha) Hosek, Clay Hershberger, Ryan Hosek, Ethan Hosek, Mason Hosek, Ty Guthrie, and Jackson Hosek; brother, Duane Hosek (Nancy Kehoe) of Clutier; sister, Diane Owens (Bobby Bowers) of Traer; sister-in-law, Lorie (Steve) Boell of Maple Grove, MN; brother-in-law, Alan (Diana) Rayman of Huxley; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother-in-law, Lyal Owens; and sister-in-law, Linda Hosek.

Memorials may be directed to the Clutier First Responders and Fire Department, or the Traer Ambulance Service.
