Eunice Neil

Eunice Arlene Neil, 94, of Plainfield, Iowa, died Friday, February 13, 2026, at Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, Iowa.

Eunice was born on June 28, 1931, in Fayette County, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Gamm) Baumgartner. She was raised in Clayton County near Strawberry Point, Iowa, where she was baptized and confirmed at St. Sebald Lutheran Church rural Strawberry Point, attended country school, and then Strawberry Point High School graduating in 1949. She then attended Allen Memorial Hospital Lutheran School of Nursing graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1952. On September 21, 1952, Eunice was united in marriage to Charles Neil at St. Sebald Lutheran Church. To this union three sons were born.

Eunice spent much of her life in her chosen profession of nursing. In 1978, she completed the Nursing Home Administrator Course through Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa. Eunice then worked for 9 years as Director of Nursing at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community and then 17 years as Administrator of Hillcrest in Sumner, Iowa, retiring on April 30, 1996.

Eunice was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waverly, Bremer County Facility Board, Bremer County Board of American Heart Association serving as President, Plainfield Community Club, Plainfield Women’s Club and Iowa Association of Homes for the Aging serving as Vice President. Eunice greatest love was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading recipes, collecting recipe books, cooking, gardening, quilting and plastic canvas.

Eunice’s memory is honored by her three sons: William (Kathy) Neil, of Downs, IL, Timothy (Rene’e) Neil, of Plainfield, IA, and John (Teri) Neil, of Independence, IA; three grandsons, Matthew (Erica), David (Rahma) and Brandon (Katie); two great-grandsons, Truman and Graham; and two great-granddaughters, Yasmine and Zara. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Dorothy Druecker.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, Iowa, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and for one-hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waverly. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Grant Township Amity Cemetery in rural Reinbeck, Iowa.
