Andrew “Andy” Jensen

Andrew “Andy” Raymond Jensen, 83, of Dysart, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Dysart United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Dysart United Methodist Church with a meal to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Andrew Raymond Jensen was born on August 22, 1942, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Alma (Frericks) Jensen. He graduated from Clutier High School and went on to build a life centered around hard work, family, music, and helping others.

Andy married Virginia Pearson, and together they raised six children: Barton, Sandy, Curtis, Scott, Kerri, and Julene. He later married Carol Nessler, who preceded him in death in 2001, and then married Marvina Collins Eide on February 21, 2004. Marvina passed away in 2022.

Throughout his life, Andy wore many hats. He worked at John Deere, hauled oil for Standard Oil, worked for Aspro Paving, and later helped his son Bart with his garbage disposal business. He was also a longtime member of the Clutier Fire Department. But beyond the jobs he held, Andy will be remembered most for the way he showed up for others.

Some people make themselves known by being loud. Andy made an impact simply by being quietly kind. He was the man in a western shirt with a smile on his face, a wave, and a thumbs up for everyone he passed. Andy had a gift for making people feel welcome. His home was a gathering place for family and friends where he took great pride in making sure nobody ever left hungry.

Andy had a profound love for music and played in several bands, most notably one called “The Danes” with his father, Raymond. His collection of guitars was something to behold. He enjoyed camping with his family, attending live music events, watching local happenings from his front porch, and his memorable trip to Nashville and the Ryman Auditorium. He collected guitars, friends, and just about anything he thought might be useful someday, either for himself or someone else. Andy was always looking for a way to solve a problem, lend a hand, or make life a little easier for someone around him.

Andy didn’t make waves; he smoothed rough waters. His greatest legacy is the love he gave so visibly and freely. He showed his family that life does not have to be loud to be memorable. His kindness, humor, generosity, and steady presence touched countless lives and will continue to live on through those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Andy is survived by his six children: Barton (Dawn) Jensen of Dysart, Sandy (Bob) Hodges of Cedar Rapids, Curtis (Shannon) Jensen of Traer, Scott (Jeanne) Jensen of Naples, Florida, Kerri (Bill) Harkrader of Clutier, and Julene Jensen (Aaron Pohlman) of Dysart; stepchildren from his marriage to Carol: Mike (Suzie) Nessler, Tammy (Rich) Hager, and Lisa (Jim) Batchelder; stepchildren from his marriage to Marvina: Kelly (Tammy) Regenold, Shelly Regenold, Kim (Darrin) Hildebrand, and Troy (Melissa) Bitterman; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brothers Richard (Pam) Jensen of Knoxville, Robert (Linda) Jensen of Schererville, Indiana; sister Raylene (Lon) Fisher of Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Alma Jensen; and his wives, Carol and Marvina.

A memorial fund will be established.
