Letter to the Editor: I plan to vote NO
On October 13th I received a letter from Alliant Energy personally inviting me to a town hall meeting on October 19 at the North Tama Activity Center at 6:30 p.m. They also told of their many years of expertise with the natural gas. They also said, which I noticed, was a 19 percent drop in gas bills over the past six years. I did appreciate and was aware of both items.
I also know they are well versed in safety. This is a number 1 item of their company. This too is very significant to me. Safety above all else.
On a couple occasions I have heard people say that Alliant did not respond to calls. I do know that many years ago my wife had a problem she thought was related to our natural gas. She didn’t know who to get a hold of to help her. She called the utilities of Traer, who referred her to the gas company. The entire process took about 15 minutes and actually it was a carbon monoxide unit that needed to be replaced. I know my wife was quite relieved at how speedily it was taken care of. That happened about 30 years ago.
As a result, I firmly believe “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I plan to vote NO on November 7th.
Sincerely,
Ross A. Hamilton
