The Dysart-Geneseo Elementary school was a full house last Thursday night as they hosted their annual spring art show.

The students of Dysart-Geneseo Elementary spend all year learning about various new types of art and its different techniques. In order to highlight everything they have learned throughout the year and showcase their masterpieces the elementary school hosts an annual spring art show.

Paintings, drawings, and clay sculptures were just a few various types of pieces that could be seen at this year’s show.

Every grade participates in this event and each student was asked to pick out their 3 favorite pieces from the year to be displayed. The entire school worked together to create a beautiful welcome poster for the entry way of the show. Alivia Mulligan and Breanna Soare who are both 5th graders this year are seen with the poster.

Both Alivia and Breanna have enjoyed their time in elementary school and stated their favorite part of 5th grade was all the field trips. The fifth grade class worked hard this year to display glow-in-the-dark monsters and clay baskets at the art show. There was a special “dark room” that included a black light which was set up in front of the show where they displayed their glow-in-the-dark creations.

A few more students who are pictured with their prized pieces are Renee and Meghan Waldrop. You can see Renee who is in the 3rd grade showing off her clay fish and bird pieces. Meghan who is in the 1st grade this year is posing by one of her favorite paintings from the year and is holding some clay art work as well. Renee stated she is very excited to be in 4th grade next year and art was her favorite subject at school this year. Meghan said she was also very excited to be in 2nd grade next year and she loves art just as much as her sister! She said at home or school they love to play with anything art related whether its paints or crafts or more.

With the students having just a little over a week of school left this was a great way to kick off the summer. By the smiles on the children’s faces while showing off their work, I’d say the night was a success. If you were able to make it to the event, we hope you had a wonderful time.
