The Dysart Community Foundation met May 21, 2014, at the Dysart City Hall. Board members Ruth Schafbuch, Brian Weber, Mark Hookham, Rich Behrens, Kathryn Manfull, Marilyn Mehlhaus, and Rick Krug, Trustee, were present. The meeting agenda and previous meeting minutes were approved, and Trustee Rick Krug gave an updated financial report. Thirteen grant application forms were received applying for the $5,688.56 grant money approved to be distributed for 2014. The following projects of local non-profit organizations were approved to receive grant money: Dysart Community Vacation Bible School food; Old Creamery Nature Trail promotion brochures; Dysart Ambulance money to assist in 2014 Ford ambulance purchase; Club Dysart to update/replace fireworks equipment; City of Dysart new batting cage for Dysart City Park, 3rd-8th grade boys; Wolf Creek Players sponsor week-long workshop for 40 children; Dysart Development Corporation supplies for Meals on Wheels; Dysart Historical Society waterproof 120 year old brick Historical Museum; Raggedy Ann and Andy Preschool purchase Creative Curriculum; City of Dysart Remembering Our Past, Renovating for the Future projects; Union Middle School two microwaves for Family and Consumer Science classroom. Due to the generosity of many local families and the City of Dysart sharing the Opal Heckroth Estate, the Foundation was able to approve $5,688.56 in grants this year. Gift planning through the Dysart Community Foundation is tax deductible and is an excellent way to make a lasting impact on our community.
