Ascalon Lodge of Dysart and La Porte City annually awards four scholarships to Dysart area graduating seniors. Two of the scholarships are awarded in memory of Marion and Dorothy Lutz, which are for $500 each. Two of the scholarships are awarded as a result of a fundraising pancake breakfast held annually on Palm Sunday. These scholarships are based on profits from the breakfast and are at least $500 and can be as much as $700. The community support for these scholarships has been outstanding the past several years and the community members can be proud they help make these awards possible for our graduates. This year’s recipients were Sarah Ternus and Drake Mossman for the Ascalon Lodge Scholarship and Kristen Lowe and Joel Wauters for the Lutz Scholarship. Ascalon Lodge is very grateful for all those who make our breakfast a success through your generous donations.
