Imagine This moves to new location

Imagine This has been a wonderful part of our community for at least the last ten years, and this year they have some very exciting new things happening. Owner Carol Zeien first opened Imagine This to expand her love and passion for refurbished furniture and other antique items. Carol has been painting and up-cycling furniture, and everything else you can find for over the last 20 years.

Carol’s longtime dream started becoming reality when her and a good friend were just hanging out and talking. She began to mention how although she has loved her time on Main Street, and absolutely loves Dysart, she has always dreamed of doing this farmhouse-style showroom. It dawned upon her friend that she may know of the perfect place. Her husband owned a farm, just northwest of Dysart, and the house was vacant. It all started from there and months of renovation and designing began to start.

Imagine This has moved just a few miles outside of Dysart to a beautiful farmhouse on Highway 8 leading to Traer, the house is located just before the turn at Highway V18 to Clutier. Carol along with friends and family has been working for over a year to make this all happen. Carol has dreamed her whole life of taking an old farm house and turning every room into a sale area. Each decorated by the furniture she has refurbished and given new life too, and also all of the different pieces she has found at different auctions and sales.

Carol knew beginning the process that this was not going to be an easy or perfect road. There was a lot of work to be done, all while maintaining being a wife, mother, business owner, friend to many, and much more. One of Carol’s great longtime friends Carla, has been there since day once. Carol actually met Carla because she was one of her very first customers at Imagine This when it first opened its doors. Carol’s family has also been a huge support during the last year. Her husband grew up in the area and served in the Navy for 21 years. They spent some time in Maryland for about 10 years and decided to move back to Iowa for a change of pace and a great place to raise their two girls Cameden and Chandler.

You can find a little bit of everything at the Imagine This Farmhouse. Around 90% of the stores merchandise is up-cycled. There are a few new items here and there, but for the most part everything is refurbished in some way. Carol has been painting furniture for over the last 25 years. She doesn’t just paint end tables either. Whether you are looking for a beautiful lamp, mirror, chair, table setting, flower arrangements, you name it. Carol can pick something out and create something awesome, and make it beautiful as well. Big furniture, small pieces, you can find just about anything to make your home beautiful at the Imagine This Farmhouse.

The Farmhouse will also be offering an assortment of classes in the near future. Carol will be teaching her passion of painting, sewing, and many other things she has learned throughout the years. Carol said that painting furniture will always be one of her favorite hobbies. She has her own techniques and several years of practice under her belt. She also uses a wonderful brand of paint called Reclaim which is made completely here in the USA. Carol stated how extremely important that is to her as she make a daily effort in her own life to be green, shop local, and support our local economy.

The Farmhouse’s house will be open from 10 am to 5 pm on Thursday and Friday. Or from 10 am to 3pm on Saturdays. Be sure to stop by soon and see and see the amazing establishment Carol has worked so hard to create over the last year.
