The Tree of Lights Community Improvement Project sponsored by the Dysart Women’s Club will begin October 10, 2014 and run through December 6, 2014. During this time everyone in the Dysart community is asked to clip a donation form from the Dysart Reporter print issue or pick one up from the many Dysart places of business. Fill it out and purchase a bulb, ornament, or a string of lights. The form may be dropped off at the Farmers Coop Telephone Company or sent to: Tree of Lights, c/o Maxine Bottema, 801 Connell St., Dysart, IA 52224.

This year the proceeds will be used for the Community Building renovation. The CIP committee pledged their funds this past summer when the community was gathering up donations for this project so we could receive a grant.

The culminating activity will be on December 6 at Christmas on Main. The morning celebration will take place in the Dysart Community Building at 9 a.m. There will be hot cider, coffee, cookies, and a short program featuring the Union Carolers, Elementary Carolers, Wolf Creek Players skit, and Jeune Attente Dance groups. The tree topper will be named in their honor, and of course there will be a visit from Santa.

Union FFA Club will be offering a Cookie Walk and will be selling cookies by the pound at this time while the celebration is going on. Various Christmas cookies will be offered to the public.

The Dysart Community Foundation will be sponsoring a pancake breakfast that morning, the DDC will hold a drawing for free turkeys, and businesses on Main will be open.
