Christmas on Main celebration enjoyed by all

Local kids enjoyed the hay rides around town during the annual Christmas on Main celebration held last week in Dysart.

The holidays are quickly approaching and there have been plenty of fun festivities to kick off the season! Last Thursday, The DDC and the Dysart Business Builders Group hosted the annual Peppermint Party. This event is quickly becoming another favorite yearly tradition. Most of the shops and businesses participate in this with some sort of peppermint-y style of fun! Whether they are having peppermint drinks, treats, candles or lotions, there is something for everyone, and it all smells like Christmas! It’s a great event to kick off or finish up your Holiday shopping. There are great sales, delicious food and drinks and lots of fun for everyone.

Then on Saturday, December 6th, Dysart hosted its 6th Annual Christmas on Main event. The majority of events took place at the Community Building, but of course all of our favorite shops downtown joined in on the fun. Dysart’s newest business, Pianos of Note, had live piano music for everyone to enjoy as they were shopping. Christmas music could also be heard on Main Street playing through the speakers, spreading the Christmas cheer as groups of friends and families strolled from store to store.

Down at the Community Building, starting bright and early, was a delicious pancake breakfast. It was sponsored by the Dysart Community Foundation and was served until 12:30. Following breakfast there was a cookie exchange as well as performances by the Union High School Carolers, the Wolf Creek Players skit, and also the Jeune Attente dance groups. There was also a large holiday vendor fair set up with a wide array of different holiday products or great Christmas gifts as well.

In past years the Dysart Development Corporation sponsored Hayrack Rides around town. This year the tradition continued as people waited in line to be picked up outside the community building and go for a stroll through town on the hay wagon. The DDC also sponsored a visit from Santa. Starting at 10 AM children waited their turn to sit on Santa’s lap for a picture and to tell him all of their Christmas wishes. To wrap up the fun at 10:15, there was a lighting ceremony of the beautiful Tree of Lights in front of the Community Building. Happy Holidays to everyone!
