FCSLA plans Matt Grace Family Benefit
The FCSLA Christmas party was held on Sunday, December 14, at the Clutier Legion Hall. The 28 members in attendance were treated to a lunch of chili, maidrites, and bars. After lunch the annual meeting was held. Special guest was Patrick Braun, national sales manager, who spoke to the lodge about life insurance and annuities available to members. The secretary and treasurer reports were read and approved. The lodge again purchased boxes of Kleenex for area nursing home residents and members delivered them to the nursing homes before Christmas. Election of officers was held. All officers remaining in office for another year are President: Paul Svoboda, Vice-President: Bev Colvin , Secretary: David Svoboda, Treasurer: Shirley Kubik, Trustees: Warren Colvin, Freddie Kubik, and Richard Linhart. Members were treated to candy, peanuts, pop, and apples before heading for home. Door prizes were won by Mary Ann Gardner and Barb Svoboda.
A Matching Funds Project benefit for the Matt Grace Family was discussed. The Grace’s lost their home and all their possessions in a house fire in October. The benefit will be held on Saturday, January 24, at the Belle Plaine Legion Hall beginning at 4:00 p.m. A free will offering supper, live auction, bake sale, and dance are being planned. Members are asked to donate baked goods to the bake sale and/or items for the auction. Questions regarding the benefit can be directed to Paul, Barb, or Jill Svoboda.
