Firefighters from Traer, Dysart and Gladbrook were joined by a ladder truck from Toledo in battling this Tuesday afternoon blaze at Simply Blooming in downtown Traer.

Firefighters from Traer and nearby towns were dispatched to the scene of a fire in the downtown area Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze began in Simply Blooming sometime around 2 p.m. and was discovered when owner Lisa Eikamp returned from a delivery run.

Crews from Gladbrook and Dysart were also on scene, along with a ladder truck from Toledo. Second Street was closed between Highway 63 and Taylor Street to allow crews use of the block as they extinguished the blaze and begin surveying the damage.

The Traer Theatre, which shares a wall with Simply Blooming, was full of heavy smoke but appeared to suffer no direct damage from the fire.

No injuries were reported.
