Historical Center open for holiday

The Dysart Historical Center will be open on Saturday, July 4th, and Sunday, July 5th, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. There will also be “Family Nights at the Museum” on Wednesday nights from 6:00 until 8:00 until further notice. An appointment may also be made to visit almost anytime by calling 319-476-7345 or 319-476-3549.

There are many new artifacts to be seen at the Historical Center. Some of the items that will surprise you include the beautiful hatpin holders and hatpins collected over the years by Mary Degner, a 1920’s Coolerator icebox, a 1930’s handmade bathtub, a 1930’s console radio, and a silk scarf commemorating the World War II surrender of Japan. The new Machine Shed Museum is nearing completion and will soon be home to some larger agricultural items such as a potato planter and an early cultivator. The Agnes Luze Memorial Rose Garden is in bloom, along with the lilies and the Smoke Tree. Plan to visit your Dysart Historical Center soon!
