With the school year beginning, we all know how important of a time it is to keep up on everything going on this up-coming school year! You can learn more about this upcoming year at each of the schools open house.

All schools will be holding their open houses on August 20th. The middle school will be from 5-6 pm, the high school’s open house will be held at 6:30 pm, there will also be a shuttle bus provided for those who need transport. The bus will be in front of the Dysart middle school at 6:00 pm for anyone interested. The elementary schools open house will be held from 6-7 pm.

Conferences are another big part of back to school. The first set of parent-teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday September 2nd from 2-6 pm and Thursday the 3rd from 3-8 pm. This is for all Union Community School District locations. All children will be dismissed at 12 o’clock noon both days, along with no school that Friday September 4th.

This year both the La Porte City and Dysart Elementary schools are in need of volunteers for the 2015-2016 school year. Being a volunteer will only require around 2 hours a week but can make a huge impact in the children’s lives. More information about the volunteer program will be going out in the middle of September, so be sure to stay tuned for that!

Every year you can help “Save For Your School” by donating the following common household items that the schools are able to then recycle for funds used to help with building repairs and classroom and instructional supplies that help excite and maintain the schools throughout the entire year. All of the following items will be accepted; Campbell Labels for Education, Box Tops for Education, Kemp’s milk caps, Pop Top Tabs, Cell Phones, DVD discs (working and non), and toner cartridges. Donations will be accepted throughout the entire school. year.

Individual school pictures will be taken by Life Touch Photography on Friday September 25, 2015. Packets will be sent home ahead of time for you to place your order. School pictures are a great way to watch the progress of you child, and the differences in them from year to year.
