Gold Wing Road Riders rally Sept. 25 & 26

The quiet roar or a better choice of words, the quiet hum of Gold Wing motorcycles will be heard in Central Iowa area September 25 & 26 as “All Roads Lead to Toledo” at the Reinig Center in Toledo, Iowa. This convention will give the riders of Honda Gold Wings and other motorcycles the opportunity to tour the beautiful area, attend motorcycle safety seminars as well as purchase tickets for raffle items. The proceeds from the raffle items and the donations from local businesses help the Iowa District Gold Wing Road Riders Association to educate the motoring public (non-riders) as well as riders of motorcycles.

As a preview of the event and to allow you, the residents of the area to mark your calendars with the event schedule: Friday from approximately 11:00am until 2:00pm many riders will be touring Tama-Toledo and the many historic buildings located in the two towns. Opening ceremonies will be held at 3:00pm at the Reinig Center. The rally attendees will ride to Chelsea for a meal at Periwinkle Manor provided by Sun & Fun Motor Sports of Iowa City. Friday evening at approximately 7:00 pm we will be traveling through town from the Tama Civic Center on Siegel Street to 5thStreet then turn on McClellan Street. After turning on McClellan we will travel north connecting with South Broadway in Toledo. We will continue on Broadway to High Street, turn west on High to Highway 63 South to Business 30. After turning on business 30 we will end our light parade at Premier Estates where we will hold a light show. The residents will be asked to judge the lighted bike/trike they feel is the best. We will award a plaque to that bike on Saturday evening at our closing ceremonies. Saturday morning at 8:30am we will select the Iowa District Couple and Individual of the Year for 2015-2016. (The selection will be held at the Reinig Center). Saturday will give our attendees an opportunity to ride and enjoy the beautiful area in and around Toledo and Tama County as well as attending the bike show at Sunny Hill Care Center (bike show will be at 3pm). Riders will return to the Reinig Center around 4:00pm for dinner provided by McGrath Power Sports of Cedar Rapids. Closing ceremonies and the drawing of the great raffle items that have been donated will follow the dinner.

As members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association 51% of what we do is education. We present seminars at civic organizations around the state, enter parades, conduct motorcycle safety courses and visit with the general public to name a few opportunities we have to educate.
