Windbreaks 101

Do you have a windbreak on your farm or acreage? Do you need one? How do you start? Are there any financial incentives to help with the cost?

Butler County Extension & Outreach is holding an informational meeting on windbreaks at the Butler County Extension Office in Allison on October 29, 2015, from 6 9 pm.

Dr. Jesse Randall, Iowa State University Extension Forester, will be conducting the meeting. He will be educating landowners on the value of windbreaks, how to design and select trees for a new windbreak, how to plant and maintain trees and what to look for in old windbreaks in terms of disease and insects.

Lawrence Green from NRCS will also be on hand to review cost share programs available to the public to help with the cost of new windbreaks.
