2015 Fire Prevention Week schedule
2015 Fire Prevention Week is October 4-10 this year with the theme of “Hear the Beep – Where you Sleep.” There will be many local activities for kids to take part in this annual tradition, including:
Thursday, October 8, 9:30 a.m. – Raggedy Ann & Andy Preschool 3 year-olds will be at the fire station to learn about the basics of not playing with fire and the trucks, as well as the classic stop, drop and roll
Thursday, October 8, 12:30 p.m. – Fire Drill at the Playhouse
Thursday, October 8, 1 p.m. – Fire Drill at Union Middle School
Thursday, October 8, 1 p.m. – Fire Drill at D-G Elementary; at least 12 firemen are needed to give the kindergarteners fire truck rides; 3rd graders will go back to the station to view fire trucks
Thursday, October 8, 6:30 p.m. – OPERATION EDITH will help families plan escape routes, test smoke alarms, check fire extinguishers and make sure all family members have a plan for fire; turn your front porch light on when your family has performed all these things and firemen will tally the amount of lights on in town
Friday, October 9, 9:30 a.m. – Raggedy Ann & Andy Preschool 4 year-olds will be at the fire station to learn about the basics of not playing with fire and the trucks, as well as the classic stop, drop and roll
Among the many free goodies the kids and staff will receive are:
All grades and staff receive candy and pencil.
– Middle School staff receives candy just because they are great people!
– D.G. Elementary Pre-School, Raggedy Ann & Andy Pre-School (stickers) and Playhouse receive Sparky’s Coloring Book.
– Kindergarteners receive plastic firemen’s hat!!!
– Kindergarten & First Graders receive Sparky’s Coloring Book, colors and stickers.
– Second & Third Graders receive Sparky’s Activity Book.
