McLaughlin celebrates 50 years in practice

Fifty years ago, on July 27, 1965, Michael A McLaughlin DDS opened his dental practice in Dysart after receiving his degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Developing a passion for Hawkeye sports while in school, his goal was to set up a practice within easy driving distance to Iowa City so he could still be an active fan. Thanks to Dr. Linthacum and Dr. Roberts (both physicians in town at the time) he chose the perfect small town in need of a dentist, Dysart.

Dr. McLaughlin bought and remodeled a small house at 401 Wilson St when he came to town and the practice remains in that location to this day. After 50 years, it is time to slow down and McLaughlin Family Dentistry has become Pipho Family Dentistry thanks to Dr. Robert Pipho, who has purchased the practice and will continue to provide dental care in Dysart.

Dr. McLaughlin and his wife, Julie, have 3 children: Blair and Merilee McLaughlin, Dr. Blaine and Chris McLaughlin and Ryan McLaughlin. While splitting their time between Dysart and Iowa City these days, they are also enjoying following the activities of their 3 grandchildren, Alexa, Devin and Cayden McLaughlin.

“Dysart has turned out to be the perfect town.I don’t think I could have picked a better place to live, practice dentistry and raise my family. Thank you for all of the support throughout the years. I made a great choice to come to Dysart and have had a great life, which I hope will continue.”

There will be an open house celebrating his 50 years in Dysart at the Dysart Country Club on Sunday, October 11 from 2:00-5:00 in the afternoon. Stop by and congratulate Doc on his 50 years of practice!
