Six Union musicians honored at All-State auditions

Congratulations go out to the Union High School Vocal Music department on their outstanding showing at All-State auditions on Saturday October 24th in Hampton. 4 UHS musicians were chosen to perform in the festival and 2 UHS musicians were selected as alternates. This is the highest honor a high school musician in the State of Iowa can receive. Selected for her 2nd consecutive year was Kaitlyn Helgeson, Senior Soprano II, daughter of Bruce and Cindi Helgeson. Selected for their 1st year were Brady Rempe, Junior Bass I, son of Bruce and Mabel Rempe; Mariah Vaughan, Junior Soprano II, daughter of Todd & Jennifer Renz; and Weston Krug, Junior French Horn, son of Rick and Janine Krug. Alternates selected were Anna Garwood, Junior Soprano II, daughter of Scott and LeAnn Garwood; and Kassie Hennings, Senior Trombone, daughter of Kurt and Jill Hennings.
Special recognition goes out to an additional 4 vocalists who were recalled but not selected-Nicole Lowe, Wesley Hanson, Lauren Harrigan and Kortlyn Ewoldt . Their instructors are Tim J. Mitchell and Michael Bistline.
The festival takes place November 19-21st and will be recorded by Iowa Public Television for broadcast over the Thanksgiving holiday. This program is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators Association.
