Jacobsen honored by CSWE

Dr. Michael Jacobsen, MSW, son of former Dysart resident’s Jean and the late Glenn Jacobsen was honored at the October 2015 meeting of the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE). The American Indian/Alaska Native Social Work Education Association an affiliate of CSWE, honored Mike with the American Indian Elder Award, in recognition of his lifelong contributions to promote American Indians in social work education. In addition to a plaque and sage, he was presented with the woolen Pendleton Circle of Life Blanket. Mike worked for 34 years in Social Work Education, attaining the rank of full professor, and serving as department chair. Much of his teaching centered on social justice for minority populations and persons with disabilities. Mike was a 1964 graduate of Dysart High School. Mike and his wife Barb are currently residing in O’Fallon, Missouri.
