Movie Night at Dysart UMC Jan. 17
Everyone is invited to come and watch the movie “42,” the true story of an American Legend, Jackie Robinson. In 1946, Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford), legendary manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers, defies major league baseball’s notorious color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman) to the team. The heroic act puts both Rickey and Robinson in the firing line of the public, the press and other players. Facing open racism from all sides, Robinson demonstrates true courage and admirable restraint by not reacting in kind and lets his undeniable talent silence the critics for him. This is a great movie to show and bring the Gospel to the big screen.
This PG-13 movie is free and will be shown on Sunday, January 17 from 4-6 p.m. at the Dysart United Methodist Church, 602 Tilford Street, Dysart, Iowa.
Popcorn, apple cider, hot chocolate, and lemonade will be served and enjoyed throughout the movie.
