Clutier Public Library to host bake sale
The Clutier Public Library is having a bake sale on February 21, from 8am to 12pm at the Clutier Fire Station to benefit the library’s lighting and ceiling project. The bake sale will be set up inside the Fire Station during the pancake breakfast. Donations are welcome.
The library’s goal is to raise enough money to help defray the costs that are not covered by any grants or donations we might receive. The lights in the library are older fluorescent lights that are yellowed, and six of the ten don’t have covers. We also have a dropped ceiling, which we have to keep, but many of the tiles are cracked and broken, so they need to be replaced. Not only are the lights and ceiling unsightly, they are inefficient, so we are hoping that over time we will save money on our utility bills. Alliant Energy has been contacted and a representative has been in to look at our current lighting and send a report back to Alliant.
They will then make a recommendation and estimate the savings the new lights will yield. Alliant has a grant we can apply for based on a percentage of the estimated savings. We have also applied for a grant for the ceiling tiles. Any money we receive at the bake sale will be reserved for expenses not covered by grants we may receive.
If anyone has questions about the bake sale or the project, please call the library at 319-479-2171, or Patti at 319-530-9161.
