Supervisors set date for budget hearing

Tama County Supervisors Larry Vest, Kendall Jordan and Dan Anderson met Monday morning with County Engineer Lyle Brehm. Brehm stated the roads were soft in areas and they would need to start hauling some rock. Depending on the weather they may start early.

Approval was given for an Utility Permit for Windstream work to be done in Carlton Township, Section 21.

A public hearing date was set for the Fiscal Year 2017 county budget. This will be on March 14, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in the Supervisors room. The public is welcome to attend.

Tami Wise in Human Resources was present with a sample of a change in the Employee Handbook which will go under General Information. The Hiring Policy would add “Upon approval of adding staff or filling vacant positions the Department Head will contact Human Resources and make them aware of the intent to hire and involve Human Resources in the process, or no additional staff will be approved. ” Wise said there had been Personnel hired and she had not been notified for a few days. These people would be working without insurance coverage. Wise said it is exrtremely important to have all the data on a new employee before they actually start the job.

This would be mentioned at the Department Head meeting held later today.

Bernie Lowe was present to give an update on the County Insurance Plan for the coming year.

Claims approved for the past week came to $131,191.41.
