Tama County Board of Supervisors recap

Last Monday morning the Tama County Board of Supervisors met with Tama County Conservation officer Bob Etzel who had a request to transfer funds to the LAD account. Etzel stated he had received checks from the State of Iowa for $837.83 and $7758.11. The $837.83 check was from FEMA from the 2013 disaster (DR-4126), the State of Iowa’s share for small projects.

The second check for $77 58.11 was from the Fish Habitat Stamp Grant. Etzel stated he is required to deposit these checks in the LAD (Land Acquisition Development) account, until such time as it is used for special purposes.

Supervisors approved this request.

Tami Wise in Human Resources was present with information from the Iowa Individual Health Benefit Reinsurance Association. This was an estimate for the 2015 assessment. Wise says the Board of Directors for the Iowa Individual Health Reinsurance Association is estimating the total assessment for the calendar year 2015 may be 0.15 percent of premiums. This estimate is based on preliminary data which could change when the year is complete. Last year this Board provided a memorandum estimating that the total assessment for calendar year 2014 approximately 0.28 percent of premiums and 2012 was approximately 0.42 percent of premiums. These projections are estimates and the actual total assessment may be higher or lower than the estimates.

Wise also told supervisors of a County Safety Coordinator opportunity to receive the best training in safety. The Iowa Illinois Safety council is having their annual conference on April 14 and 15, 2016. This will be held at the Cedar Rapids Convention Complex. This training program offers a wide area of interest.

Claims approved for the past week came to $125,106.57.
