D-G and Union students learn “It Takes An Iowan”

D-G 4th & 5th grade students work on the “It Takes An Iowan” Scavenger Hunt activity.

The D-G Elementary 4th and 5th grade students attended the Silos and Smokestacks exhibit, “IT TAKES AN IOWAN” exhibit on Monday, April 18th. The Union Middle School agriculture class attended the event on Friday, April 15th, which was located at the Dysart Community Building. The 1300 square foot exhibit, along with numerous additional agricultural displays, showcased the contributions of Iowans in helping feed the world now and in the future. Each student was provided a backpack filled with student agricultural information and activities, along with a small tree given by the Trees for Kids program. They were treated to cookies from the Dysart Women’s Club, milk from the Benton County Dairy Producers, and energy bars from the Benton County Corn Growers. Various commodity groups also provided educational materials for the students and teachers. The event was sponsored by the Dysart Historical Society, assisted by the Dysart Tree Board and the Dysart Women’s Club.
