Union vocalists perform for governor

A mixed ensemble from Union High School has been selected to perform the National Anthem for The 2016 Iowa Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony on Sunday May 1 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. Over 70 recordings were submitted to be selected for this honor and this is the second time in the last 10 years that Union has had a group chosen to perform.

Union Vocalists are no strangers to the big stage and have been consistently honored to perform the national anthem at practically every major state high school event: State Football Championships, State Volleyball, State Wrestling, State Boys Basketball, State Girls Basketball, All-State Speech and the State FFA Convention. This year’s group consists of Hallie Spore, Kassidy Downs, Lizzie Klein, Allie Carty, Lauren Harrigan, Lauren Peters, Wesley Hanson, Nathan Acuff, Carter Hennessy, Brady Rempe, Hunter Fleshner and Ryan Connolly. They are under the direction of Tim J. Mitchell.
