A Union Middle School team attended the finals of the “Battle of the Books” (BOB) at Simpson College on March 29. BOB is a reading competition designed to encourage students to read. Teams of five or six students read novels from a pre-selected list of 30 books. Students on a BOB team have each read five or more books since October. In February and March the teams “battle” by identifying authors’ names and answering fact-based questions about the books. The top 15 teams attend the final battle to determine the top team in the state.
The “Jalapeno Dragons” team members were: Gabe Hanson, Sadie Hennings, Gabriel Jesse, Tristen Prouse, Corey Smith, and Carlie Spore.
The team placed 12th out of the original 50 teams who were registered in the competition.
The BOB team members are students with Mrs. Vada Elliott.
