On Your Mark, Get Set… Read begins June 6
Norma Anders Public Library’s summer story hour program, On Your Mark, Get Set…Read will kick off Monday, June 6 with “Fueling Up for Fun!” Kids will learn about the importance of a healthy diet to maintain energy for fun activities. The story hour kids will also be launching a “food for fines” food drive June 6-June 27 at the library. All donations will be given to the Northeast Tama County Food Pantry.
The summer reading program will be on Mondays in June (June 6, 13, 20 and 27) 9:30-10:30 am. Children in preschool through 2nd grade (ages 3-8) are invited to participate in the library’s summer reading program. Registration is recommended but children may attend regardless. Parents can register by going to the library, calling 476-5210 or at dysart.lib.ia.us (the Norma Anders library website).
Other story hour themes in June will include “Animal Olympics,” “Gymnastics Fun,” and “Be a Reading Champion!”
Once again this summer, children can compete in a summer reading contest which begins on June 1. All children who turn in reading logs will be entered into a prize drawing to be held at the final story hour on June 27 and all children will receive a pass to the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines. Top readers will receive an On Your Mark, Get Set…Read t-shirt.
Reading logs can be picked up at the library at time of registration or at story hour. Parents, grandparents, older siblings or babysitters may read to children who cannot read independently.
