The public is invited to attend a public open house for retiring Superintendent Neil Mullen. The event will be held Sunday, June 19, 2016, at the La Porte City FFA Historical and Ag museum, 408 Main Street, La Porte City, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Neil Mullen was a 1976 graduate of La Porte City High School. He went on to attend Wartburg College to earn his Bachelor’s degree. His first teaching position was with the North Mahaka School District, where he taught for five years. In 1986 he joined the staff at La Porte City Elementary as the physical education teacher, and junior high/high school coach. Mullen continued his career at La Porte City serving as the high school principal, before moving to become principal at Dysart-Geneseo Elementary. The final stop in his 30 year career at Union Community School District was as Superintendent of Schools.

Come congratulate Mullen on a job well done and best wishes for his future.
