The Petshed returns to Dysart

Sue Rutledge, owner-operator of The Petshed LLC has once again opened its grooming business in Dysart after operating in Oelwein for a period.

Dysart residents and area dog owners will once again have a grooming salon in their vicinity as Sue Rutledge has reopened The Petshed LLC in Dysart again after moving the business to Oelwein.

Rutledge started The Petshed LLC in Dysart in 2015 after twelve years of dog grooming experience prior at PetsMart and a vet clinic in Waterloo. After moving to Oelwein to “follow her heart”, the plan did not work as foreseen and Rutledge decided to return to Dysart in a new location at 1001 Estelle Street. Rutledge provides services including nail trims, sanitary, trims, baths, premium cuts and shave-downs for dogs.

“I wanted to do grooming for myself and started this business,” Rutledge said. “When I moved to Oelwein, the business wasn’t as successful due to other groomers being in the area. My goal with coming back to Dysart is to support my son and I while keeping pet owners in Dysart and the surrounding area happy.”

The Petshed we inspected on Friday and able to open its doors for grooming the next day for customers both old and new. While Rutledge searches for a new house, the shop will remain at its new location.

“Everyone seems to be very happy that this business is back,” Rutledge said. “I’ve had an overwhelming welcome and response already. I guess it took moving away for me to realize where I belong. Dysart has supported me and it’s a great community to be a part of.
