Tama County District Court

Before Judge Lars G. Anderson in Tama County District Court in Toledo:

Trevor Ray Bingham, 23, Montour, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after previously pleading guilty on Sept. 26, 2019, to 3rd degree sexual abuse. He was fined, as assessed court costs and a surcharge totaling $1,700 and directed to pay $6,784 to the Crime Prevention Compensation Program. He was credited for any time previously served in connection with the case.

Bingham was charged following an alleged incident on Sept. 1, 2018, in Montour, in which he allegedly had sexual relations with a 14-year-old victim who was intoxicated. The charge was filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Lucas Dvorak.

Aiden Hunter Kapayou, 24, Tama, had a previous deferred judgment revoked on charges of conspire to manufacture, deliver and / or possess with intent to deliver marijuana and two counts of child endangerment. He was sentenced to a suspended five year prison term on the drug charge and placed on probation for three years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. For child endangerment, he was sentenced to concurrent 30-day jail sentences with credit for 30 days already served. He was ordered to successfully complete a substance abuse treatment program and to pay the probation enrollment fee. Payment of fines totaling $2,000 were suspended and court costs were waived.

Kapayou was cited in a probation violation report for failing to keep scheduled appointments with his probation officer and admitting to use of methamphetamine.

Kapayou was originally charged on Aug. 14, 2016, after a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 600 block of Hall Street after a large quantity of marijuana was allegedly located in a closet of a childs playroom in the residence. The charges were filed by Tama Police Officer Neil Frizzell.
