Clutier LIBRARY News
January is over and we are that much closer to spring. The children’s storytime group made a seahorse picture this week and the story was Seahorse Makes Friends. Next week we will make a wreath of hearts for Valentine’s Day. Storytime continues to be on Mondays at 11:15 a.m. Also if it is hard to get to the library, call and we will deliver books, magazines or movies in town.
New books at the library are : Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling, Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult, Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen, Dewey by Vicki Myron (Large print), The Rope Walk by Carrie Brown (the All-Iowa Reads book for 2009) Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich, Seven Up by Janet Evanovich, Hard Eight by Janet Evanovich, The Shack by Wm. Paul Young, The Associate by John Grisham, The Francis Tree and The Christmas Letter, both by Kevin Prochaska and donated by the author.
The Clutier Public Library has also ordered Harker’s One-Room Schoolhouses, which tells the story of the rise and fall of Iowa’s one-room schools. Included in the book is a picture of the school which now sits on Main Street in Clutier. The library also owns Harker’s Barns, which was a donation by library patrons. These books have a valued place among the books that we have been collecting which tell the history of Iowa and this area in particular. They are a valued resource for people interested in the area or looking for information about family. It is very gratifying to see the young people of Clutier come to the library and look at the books and answer their questions about the history of the town.
We also are proud to have the pictures of all of the Clutier graduation classes from 1928 thru 1961 hanging in the library. Many people come in and look at the pictures of their parents and grandparents when they visit town. We also have a collection of Clutier school year books available for people to look at. One of the goals of the library board is to add to this collection of both Clutier and North Tama yearbooks. If anyone knows of yearbooks available please contact any library board member or the library.
