It has been a wacky spring. One day the weather wants to be 55 degrees and sunny, and the next day it wants to be 25 degrees and snowy. It is like a toddler at a candy store taking forever to decide. The last couple springs have been warmer than we currently sit at this point. There was no snow still coming down, though at least it is melting within a day or two of landing.

Yesterday, I drove back from Decorah through snow, and today, if I was brave enough, I could rock out with my calves out. While most of winter was not as bad as the cold snap before Christmas, this wishy washy weather sure is something to behold. With the fluctuating temperatures and form of precipitation, I have to keep an eye on my dog. Eevee has a knack for wanting to show off her muddy paws in the house.

I am good with precipitation, but I want consistent weather. Going from one extreme to another is no fun. For Pete’s sake, I opened my weather app this morning, and it showed on the last day of the ten day forecast snow with 75 degree temperatures. This may have been a glitch, but with how this weather has been going, I was not entirely shocked. Iowa weather has always had a certain flair, but this year is on another level.

One of the best parts of Iowa and other Midwest states are the seasons. The best part of seasons are they take place at different parts of the year. Unfortunately, it feels like each day is a different season, and my patience wears thin. All I ask for is weather which makes sense, and it does not change by twenty degrees every day.

The key to being great at any task in life is consistency. To perform a task the same way and more efficiently is impressive but Mother Nature has lacked this characteristic this year. It feels like it will be mid-June before there will be consistently warm temperatures. It better change sooner than later but no one will ever know.

At the end of the day, it will be nice when the weather figures its business out. I cannot stand it acting like a squirrel changing direction with each second, but it is nature, always trying to throw us a curveball. Sometimes, I dream of living in the consistent temperatures of sunny, 70 degree weather San Diego, but with the weather so consistent there, what would I talk about? A wacky spring is always a conversation starter.
