Redhawks win home tournament

The North Tama Redhawk Volleyball team won their home tournament on Saturday, September 07, by winning over BGM 3-0 for the second time during the day: 25-22, 19-25 & 16-14.

Molly Dvorak scored the final point of the tournament and led the team kills with 12. Josie Youel had 11 kills, Sara Howard added 5 and Whitney Pokorny added 3 kills during the match. Courtney Stuart had one block and one assist; Youel had one blocking assist and served 15 for 15 with one ace; and Anna Kvidera served 10 for 10 with one ace. Kvidera had 24 assists. Defensively Shayla Kopriva had 15 digs.

Earlier in the day in the round robin tournament North Tama also beat BGM 3-0 (15-21, 21-11 and 15-11.) In that match Youel had 6 kills, Kvidera had 13 assists and Peyton Sears went 11 for 11 serving with 4 aces. Shayla Kopriva had 10 digs and Dvorak, Yoeul and Howard each had 2 blocking assists.

In the semi final round of the tournament North Tama avenged a loss to Belle Plaine, by beating Belle Plaine 2-0 (25-18, 25-13). Youel had 10 kills and Howard had 4. Youel served 13 for 13 with 2 aces and Pokorny served 9 for 9 with 3 aces. Sears added 2 aces while serving 7 for 7. Anna Kvidera had 15 assists and 6 digs while Youel added another 9 digs.

In round robin play North Tama beat Montezuma 22-20 and 21-7 and Clarkesville 21-10 and 21-9.

The Redhawks are 9-3 on the season and will begin conference play this Thursday at NE Hamilton.
