Bball players earn All-Conference honors

Six North Tama athletes were recently honored for their prowess on the basketball court. Three girls and three boys were named to the 2013-2014 Iowa Star All-Conference teams.

Sam Zobel, a senior, was recognized as a First Team South performer for her spectacular season. Zobel averaged 13.8 points per game, a team high, as well as 4.9 rebounds per game. She also compiled 17 steals and 29 blocks.

Josie Youel, also a senior, was recognized as a Second Team performer after leading North Tama with 5.3 rebounds per game. Youel also averaged 9.5 points per game.

Honorable Mention honors went to junior Anna Kvidera, who averaged 9.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game and led the team with 41 assists. Kvidera also tallied 46 steals on the season.

On the boys side, junior Paul Kaufmann was named to the First Team after leading North Tama in points, rebounds, and blocks this season. He averaged 20 points and 8 rebounds per game, and had a team-high 10 blocks on the year. Kaufmann also shot an incredible 87.7 percent from the free throw line.

Second Team honors went to senior Taylor Dinsdale, who averaged 11 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Dinsdale had a team-high 112 assists on the year.

Sophomore Ben Panfil had a breakout year and was named to the Honorable Mention squad after averaging 9.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this season. Panfil also had 25 assists and 17 steals on the year.
