Hostages released, Toledo man charged

Two hostages were released and a 56-year-old Toledo man is in the Tama County Jail following an overnight situation in downtown Toledo, according to Toledo Police Chief Nathan

Donald Ares Finley was arrested and charged with willful injury causing bodily injury. After a search warrant was executed police added charges of 2nd degree kidnapping and possession of drug paraphernalia..

The Tama County Sheriff’s Office also charged Finley with possession of contraband in a correctional facility and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The situation is reported to have begin about 11 p.m. in the 100 block of East High Street when Toledo Police officers first responded. They subsequently requested assistance from Marshalltown Police and the Iowa State Patrol along with Tama Police, the Tama County Sheriff’s Office, Toledo Emergency Services and the Toledo Fire Department.
