Redhawks earn all-conference awards
Following a successful 14-9 season, the North Tama Redhawks boys team was awarded with two players named to the Iowa Star South All-Conference basketball teams.
Senior Gabe Kopriva was named a first team all-conference selection. Kopriva finished his season as the conference’s leading scorer averaging 20.7 points per game while leading the state in three point shots attempted (256) and tying for second in the state in three point shots made (83). The senior guard also finished third in the conference with 64 steals.
Senior center Thomas Hulme was also named to the all-conference first team with the second most rebounds in the conference (240) to go along with a 13.3 points per game scoring average.
Rounding out the Redhawks conference honors was senior guard Devin McKinley who was named as an all-conference Honorable Mention. McKinley finished just behind Hulme at the conclusion of the season averaging 13.1 points per game.
The Redhawks wrapped up their postseason run in the second round of the Class 1A district playoffs, falling to Janesville by a score of 57-48. The Wildcats were eliminated the following round by North Linn with a final score of 63-30.
Girls all-conference
North Tama senior Aubree Monat earned all-conference second team honors after scoring 7.1 points per game and adding 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 steals and three assists per game for the Redhawks. Freshman Ava Breakenridge led the Redhawks in scoring with 8.4 points per contest and made her way onto the honorable mentions. She also grabbed two steals per game.
North Tama girls finished their season with an 8-13 record and were eliminated from the Class 1A playoffs in the opening round by Collins-Maxwell.
