Strong winds and a storm brewing later in the evening on Tuesday, April 12, was not enough to hold back the North Tama-South Tama rivalry that kicked off both districts’ boys’ seasons while adding another win to the North Tama girls’ scorecard.

Held at the Tama Toledo Country Club, North Tama head coach Alex Tagtow couldn’t have been more excited after there had been several cancellations this season due to weather.

“It’s the best weather we’ve had in weeks,” Tagtow said before the teams took to the tee boxes.

The Redhawk girls put together an 11 stroke victory over the Trojans with a final score of 226 to South Tama’s 237 – giving North Tama their second win of the season. They previously beat HLV, 216-240, on April 5, while on the road.

On the boys side, the Redhawks beat the Trojans by 12 strokes, 185-197, giving North Tama its first win of the 2021-2022 season.

Heading into the week following the Easter holiday, North Tama was set to head to Clarksville on Tuesday for a coed meet against Clarksville, Dunkerton, and Riceville before heading to Montezuma on Thursday, April 21, to play BGM.

The Redhawks will host their home meet against Colo-Nesco and Dunkerton on Friday, April 22, beginning at 4:15 p.m. at Traer Golf & Country Club. The meet was rescheduled from April 7, due to nasty weather conditions.
