In what turned out to be their final game of the 2022-2023 season, the Union Knights football team fell, 35-13, to district champions, No. 7 Greene County Rams in the Class 2A First Round Playoffs on Friday, October 21, in Jefferson. The Rams dropped only a single regular season game this year, losing to Kuemper Catholic in a shut-out, 35-0, on Oct. 9. During the Oct. 21 playoff, Union managed to keep pace with the Rams in the first quarter – with both teams notching a touchdown and a PAT – before falling behind in the second, 14-7. The Rams put up two more touchdowns in the third. The Knights managed one last touchdown in the final quarter to match the Rams. Union ends the 2022-2023 season 2-7.
