MASON CITY — BCLUW freshman Zaden Eggers shot a 3-over-par round of 75 to claim medalist honors at Monday’s Class 1A district boys golf meet at Highland Park Golf Course, advancing to next week’s state tournament at Ames Golf & Country Club.

The Comets finished fourth as a team with a 344 team score, coming up 14 strokes shy of a top-two finish and a spot at state as well. West Fork won the meet with a 329 and AGWSR was second with a 330 to advance. East Buchanan (333) came in third.

BCLUW also got counting scores from Evan Andrews (88), Mason Martin (90), and both Bodie Butler and Nate Bishop (91). Lincoln Stover carded a 102 for the Comets.

North Tama’s lone district qualifier — Michael Schrier — shot a 91 to represent the Redhawks. He tied Butler, Bishop and four others for 27th place.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck’s Isaac Baer finished in with a 92, tying for 34th.
