Five-spot lifts Redhawk baseball past Baxter

BAXTER — North Tama baseball scored five runs in the sixth inning of a 7-5 victory at Baxter on Wednesday, May 24.

Josh Dostal earned the pitching victory with four earned runs on five hits in six and one-third innings pitched, with four walks and four strikeouts. Dostal also had two runs batted in.

Kolt Knaack added a triple and scored twice; Ryan Hosek hit a double and Kayler Morris and Michael Schrier were credited with one RBI each.

Redhawks match Collins-Maxwell’s rally

TRAER — The North Tama baseball team matched Collins-Maxwell’s two-run fifth inning with one of its own to overtake the Spartans for a 3-2 triumph in during Monday’s (May 22) Iowa Star Conference South Division opener.

Tyler Popelka pitched a three-hitter for North Tama (2-1, 1-0) to get the win. He struck out four and walked two, needing only 75 pitches to go the distance.

Kolt Knaack was 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored to lead the Redhawks at the plate. Michael Schrier singled and Josh Dostal added an RBI single. Henry Hansen drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Kayler Morris singled and scored.
