North Tama sweeps aside Colo-NESCO, 3-0


COLO — The Class 1A No. 2 (Week 4) North Tama volleyball team trampled Colo-NESCO to the tune of a 3-0 sweep, winning last Tuesday’s (Sept. 19) Iowa Star Conference South Division match 25-3, 25-13, 25-12.

Kruiz Ewoldt led the way with 10 kills for the Redhawks (14-10, 2-0). Setter Izzy Hallett ended the night with 14 assists. Libero Addison Hochstetler led the defense with 12 digs, while Ewoldt and Kahlia Even had one block each.

North Tama’s servers totaled 22 aces in the three-set sweep, highlighted by Hochstetler going 19-for-21 with nine aces.

This week, the Redhawks (14-10) were set to take on fifth-ranked BCLUW (15-6) on Tuesday, Sept. 26 in Conrad for an Iowa Star South showdown for South Division regular-season bragging rights before facing Collins-Maxwell (3-12) at home on Thursday, followed by the Columbus Catholic Volleyball Invite on Saturday.

Heading into the week, North Tama was ranked No. 3 in Class 1A (Week 5).
