Jacobs runs her way to All-Conference
North Tama girls XC takes second at Iowa Star
WAVERLY – At Tuesday’s Iowa Star Conference meet held at the Wartburg Max Cross Country Course, senior Redhawk runner Jamie Jacobs raced her way to an all-conference top-10 medal, helping propel the girls team overall to a 2nd-place trophy just behind No. 10 Collins-Maxwell.
Jacobs crossed the finish in 10th place with a time of 21:51 – a full minute off last year’s time for a new personal best.
“We have a good conference that was really competitive so I had a lot of good runners to pace myself with,” Jacobs said. “There weren’t a lot of runners here tonight that will be at South Hardin next week but it makes me feel better knowing that I broke 22 [minutes].”
Rounding out Redhawk scoring was Gabby Seda in 13th with a time of 23:07, Delanie Taylor in 16th with 23:35, Ava Breakenridge in 18th with 24:02, Ava Monat in 29th with 25:15, and Violet Seda in 32nd with 26:04.
Case Monat led the Redhawk boys in 23rd with a 19:40 closing, while his teammate Andrew Beenken finished 31st with 20:28.
This was the last stop for the small but mighty team before next Thursday’s Class 1A state-qualifying meet at Pine Lake Country Club in Eldora.
Races begin at 4 p.m.
