Sienknecht’s 3-pointers propel GMG past North Tama

TRAER — The GMG girls’ basketball team led North Tama by double-digit after the first quarter of its eventual 56-40 triumph over the Redhawks in the Dec. 5 Iowa Star Conference South Division showdown.

GMG (4-1) was led by Adelyn Sienknecht with 20 points. She shot 6-of-10 from 3-point range and made one other field goal for her big scoring game.

Jocee Mason and Dylan Mathern chipped in with eight points apiece, and Mathern led the Wolverines with eight steals.

Rylee Ridout piled up 18 points and 17 rebounds to power North Tama (1-2), and Ava Breakenridge had 13 points. The Redhawks were done in by 30 turnovers.

On Thursday, Dec. 7 the Redhawks took down the Plainsmen 39-23 in Belle Plaine, followed by another road win 59-38 against Colo-NESCO on Friday.

North Tama was 3-2 heading into their Tuesday, Dec. 12 conference game against Collins-Maxwell in Traer.
