Knights grapple tough Denver team

DENVER – While most high school sporting events were canceled last week due to the snowstorms that bookended the work week, some members of Union’s top-ranked boys wrestling team managed to travel to Denver Thursday evening for a dual.

While Union narrowly lost the dual 39-33 to a tough Denver team, the Knights racked up seven wins on the mat in the process including

-Coy Mehlert (106) by pinfall over Cannen Beaumont in two minutes, 20 seconds

-Kaydin Jones (120) by decision, 7-5 over Connor McLaughlin

-Mays Weber (132) by pinfall over Riley Brand in an even four minutes

-Keegan Ellsworth (150) by decision, 10-9 over Gavin McLaughlin

-Caleb Olson (157) by pinfall over Braven Beaumont in one minute, one second

-Brock Bergmeier (165) by pinfall over Gage Wooldrik in four minutes, 47 seconds

-Brock Ruzicka (175) by decision, 7-3 over David Warrior

The Knights were next set to wrestle this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 20 at East Marshall High School in Le Grand.
