LA PORTE CITY – When Spring arrives you know it’s time for the temps to warm up and the golf course to get busy. Our Union Knight boys and girls golf teams are ready to get out and compete!

The Girls team is a senior laden crew. Lydia Albertsen, Sydney Schmuecker, Clara Carlson, and Ava Mehlert will share their expertise and guide the team as they look to improve throughout the season. Junior Amelia Schmitz is expected to be near the top of the lineup and should have another successful year.

The team placed seventh (out of 15 teams) in the NICL last season, and looks to improve on that position this season.

The Boys team will be influenced by a “youth movement.” The team welcomes seven freshmen this season. Multiple freshmen have significant experience on the course and look to add depth for the team.

Senior Sam Fehl and juniors Tyler Gates and Matt Reifenstahl all earned valuable varsity experience last season and will lead the younger Knights into competition.

Both teams compete in the NICL Conference which is one of the top golf conferences across the entire state. Both teams will look to grow as the season progresses and hit their stride in time for the conference meet and post-season play.

Coaches Ryan Slater and Holden Caloud are confident these teams have the capability to grow throughout the season and beyond!
