UNI football spring game, kids clinic set for April 19

CEDAR FALLS — Northern Iowa football fans are invited to celebrate this year’s spring season with a tailgate event and the annual spring game at the UNI-Dome on Friday, April 19.

Both family-friendly events are free and open to the public. The spring tailgate event kicks off at 5:30 p.m with registration for the kids clinic set to take place at 6 p.m. Concessions will be available.

All fans in attendance will have the opportunity to enter into a free raffle, which features a first-place prize of a replica UNI football helmet and a second-place prize of two tickets to the 2024 UNI football home opener against Valparaiso on August 31.

“We are excited to bring back the kids clinic paired with the spring game,” said Jamar Thompson, UNI’s associate athletic director for external affairs. “These two events give us a chance for the youth to interact with our student-athletes and coaches while giving our fans an early glimpse of next year’s team.”

UNI’s youngest fans will be treated to a half-hour skills clinic led by Panther football players and coaches beginning at 6 p.m. on the field. The clinic is free for kids K-8. Participants are encouraged to register online. All kids who attend the youth clinic will receive a free ticket to UNI’s home opener against Valparaiso.

The spring game will begin at 7 p.m. and feature returning and new players in a game format to be determined.

For the second straight season, the Panther Sports Network will be providing television broadcast coverage of the spring game.
