TRAER – Last Wednesday with his mom and dad by his side, North Tama senior Ryan Hosek signed his letter of intent to continue his academic and football careers next year at Buena Vista University (BVU) in Storm Lake, Iowa.

The six-foot-one, 200-pound Redhawk football captain played both center and defensive line during the 2023-24 season, recording 43.5 total tackles including 23 solo.

By committing to play at the collegiate level, Hosek is following in his older brother Dylan’s footsteps – Dylan is currently a tight end for the Morningside Mustangs.

At BVU, the younger Hosek plans to major in animal science with a focus on beef genetics. After college, his plan is to return home to farm, his mother Rebecca Dostal said.

Hosek is a multi-sport high school athlete – along with football, he plays basketball, runs track, and is a member of the baseball team. He also plays percussion in the North Tama Band.
