Kolt Knaack wins Iowa Star title

ROCKFORD — North Tama’s Kolt Knaack won Iowa Star Conference gold at the conference meet held at Rockford High School on Saturday, Feb. 8. The senior Redhawk wrestler secured the title in the 150-pound bracket.

Knaack was 4-0 in a round robin at 150 pounds, winning three matches by fall and one by medical forfeit to improve to 42-0 this season.

Redhawk teammate Maxon Monat added a 2nd-place finish in a round robin at 113.

South Hardin-BCLUW nipped North Tama in the team standings, finishing sixth with 82.5 points to the Redhawks’ 75 points in seventh. Riceville won the team title with 168.5 points, followed by Maquoketa Valley (142.5 points) and Lynnville-Sully (122.5).

This Saturday, Feb. 15, North Tama heads the Class 1A District 9 state qualifier at South Hamilton in Jewell.

At Districts, the Redhawks could face competitors from AC/GC (Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center), AGWSR, Don Bosco, Manson-Northwest Webster, Ogden, Pocahontas Area, South Central Calhoun, South Hamilton, and St. Edmond.

All District tournaments start at 10 a.m. The top-2 placewinners in each weight class will advance to the 2025 IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament set for February 19-22 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
